Beloranib BELO
An experimental weight-loss drug that blocked the body's fat-building process and led to major weight loss in human obesity trials, including one for a genetic condition called Prader-Willi syndrome. It was abandoned after several trial participants developed dangerous blood clots and some died, making it a stark example of a drug that worked but wasn't safe.
