Androstenedione Andro

A hormone supplement once sold over the counter as 'andro' before the U.S. banned it as a controlled substance. Human studies found it raised testosterone only modestly while raising estrogen more than expected, undercutting its reputation as a muscle-builder.

Also known as 4-Androstenedione, Androst-4-ene-3,17-dione, 4-Androstene-3,17-dione, Androtex, delta-4-Androstenedione, 3,17-Dioxoandrost-4-ene, SKF 2170
